A Packer is employed to package products and merchandise which are then sold to the general public and businesses. Normally recruited by busy factories, Packers will need to have a large amount of stamina and concentration. They will need to deal with outputting a steady flow of well-packaged items on a daily basis.
Becoming a Packer requires no formal education. Rather, recruiters will be looking for individuals who are reliable, trustworthy and demonstrate attention to detail. Packaging is an important part of the factory process, as this is how the consumer first sees the product. Some roles may require individuals to move around and change the items they package on a daily basis.
Person specification
A good packer will demonstrate strong hand-to-eye coordination, and have a good awareness of health and safety. Some roles will also require weighing and measuring of items before they are packed along with labelling packages by hand. Recruiters will therefore look for someone who can demonstrate a good basic understanding of Maths and English.
Packers need to be good team workers, as all roles within a factory are dependent on each others skills. You will therefore be expected to support other assemblers and machine operatives.
