A Construction Skills Network report concluded that the industry's output in the east of England will see average annual growth of 1.2% from 2013 to 2017, with the number of people employed in the sector rising by 0.5% per year. The most in-demand staff are likely to be construction managers, floorers, glaziers, plant operatives, plasterers and wood tradesmen.

BAM Nuttall, Kier Construction, Morgan Sindall and Mears have regional offices in Norfolk, while there are also permanent jobs available with small local contractors.
Specialist construction recruitment agencies fill permanent positions and also supply engineers and tradesmen for short-term contracts on major projects in Norfolk. Salaries in the area are in line with the national average, so multi-skilled tradesmen can expect to be paid from £10 to £13 an hour, quantity surveyors earn between £35,000 and £40,000 a year, and site managers can expect remuneration packages of around £45,000.
