Birkenhead is a town besides the River Mersey and the principle area for employment in the Borough of Wirral. The shipyard has historically been a great source of local jobs, but recruitment agencies are increasingly required to source staff for the service industries. Employers and candidates will find recruiters throughout the town, ranging from industry specialists to multi-sector consultancies.
Compared to the rest of the UK, the local manufacturing sector is performing strongly and much of the recruitment in Birkenhead is still heavily influenced by shipbuilding. Cammell Laird Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders, formerly Northwestern Shiprepairers and Shipbuilders, is one of the biggest employers in the region and provides more than 650 jobs.
