Audio Typists are essential for the Health Sector, Legal Sector and many other areas where professionals require the production of a great deal of paperwork.
An Audio Typist would be expected to listen to voice recordings through a headset, and type what they hear into a set template or format. Jobs which involve audio typing are often secretarial, where the post holder is employed to ensure that the work for person or department is completed in a timely manner. This could involve the typing, correction, printing, and posting of work. Other secretarial duties are also likely to be included, including call handling, diary management and the booking of appointments.
Qualifications and previous experience are not necessarily essential if a candidate can prove that they are fast and competent at typing by means of a typing test. An audio typist might be expected to type as fast as 70 words per minute (WPM). Recruitment agencies often rely on such timed tests before posting a person who has no previous experience. The competent use of computers is essential for employment in this role.
