The West Midlands is both a region of England and a unitary authority that was initiated in 1974. Including the cities of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton, it is the second largest conurbation in the United Kingdom.
The West Midlands is home to some of the largest and most recognisable companies in Britain, and its excellent road links make it a popular destination for major car manufacturers and factories. The knock-on effect is a huge selection of sales jobs in the area. Sales executives, telesales personnel, direct sales staff and sales managers will usually be able to browse from thousands of jobs in the area at any given time.
Large employers in the area include Cadbury's, Coors, JCB, IBM, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover. Many service-based companies also base their sales teams in the region because of the excellent network of roads that includes the M6 motorway and relatively quick access to the M1. However, large parts of the West Midlands have been hit very hard by unemployment. Candidates for local jobs will need to demonstrate to recruitment agencies an impressive track-record of success in sales in order to secure the best positions.
Telesales staff can earn a basic salary of between £14,000 and £20,000 in the West Midlands. Field sales staff working in the area should be able to find employment opportunities that pay up to £40,000 per year. Most results-driven sales jobs will include a bonus or commission scheme as well.
