Recruitment agencies seeking employees for cellular rigger positions are looking for candidates who are comfortable working well above ground level as the nature of the job means any potential staff member must have a good head for heights.
Applicants must have no qualms about climbing to the top of a telecoms tower which may be as high as 30 metres. They will also have to be prepared to ascend ladders to reach telecoms dishes.
Having a good head for heights will certainly make the job easier, but climbing to the top of a telecoms tower is physically demanding so it is important to know how to do it as easily as possible. It is therefore important everyone employed as a cellular rigger is well versed in how to use equipment designed for climbing and working above the ground.
Successful applicants will be instructed in the use of all such equipment and will be shown how to select the necessary tools to make climbing to the top of the towers as easy as possible.
Cellular rigging also involves the movement of equipment both upwards and downwards. This can also be a strenuous process so newly employed riggers are shown how to set up both lifting systems and lowering systems.
