The West Midlands is a conurbation of England in which Birmingham, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich and Coventry are located. The region has a diverse economy featuring Heavy Manufacturing and several industries in the Service Sector.
West Midlands Security employers
Security plays a large role in the area due to the commercial nature of Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry. With several large-scale manufacturing plants including the Land Rover and Cadbury’s factories, the need for reliable and trained security personnel is very significant indeed. Large areas of the region’s cities suffer from unemployment and skills shortages, so jobs in security give many people a way back into work.
Candidate requirements
Security candidates need to demonstrate to recruitment agencies that they are reliable and honest, and it is often necessary to undergo a criminal record check for jobs involving the care of cash or assets. There are several large Security firms with a significant presence in the area, including G4S, Securitas and AEGIS. These companies not only deliver personnel, they also deliver complete packages in the West Midlands that cover functions such as event control, cash control and risk management.
Job roles
Staff vacancies in the industry include everything from Security Guards to Account Directors - with the latter earning as much as £50,000 PA. Employment opportunities in the West Midlands for Security Workers are reasonably plentiful due to the sheer number of businesses in the area.
