The recruitment industry is responsible for providing individuals with jobs in two important ways. On the one hand, the industry has a workforce of nearly 100,000 people. For those looking to join the ranks of Recruitment-to-Recruitment employees, the most important requirements are strong communication skills, IT proficiency, and a talent for networking.

Qualifications and salary

While some positions require national qualifications or university degrees, many provide on-the-job training and are open to applicants from a variety of diverse backgrounds and professional interests.

Salaries in the sector start at around £17K for most entry-level and junior positions. Those with extensive experience - most of whom work in managerial or administrative roles - can earn as much as £42K. The overall national average is about £26K annually, and this number is fairly constant throughout most of the UK. Those working in London, however, have average incomes of about £31K. Currently, professionals working in the North West and South West have the lowest annual incomes, but not by a substantial amount.
