The training and learning sector is an important area of the UK economy. Not only does it provide a number of career opportunities throughout the nation, but it also enables thousands of people to acquire the skills they need to obtain employment and/or career advancement in their chosen fields. The sector is incredibly broad, and encompasses everything from computer-based training software to internal development programmes to consultation.
Position vacancies appearing in recruitment agency listings often involve face-to-face training, CISCO training programs, and e-learning design. Because the industry encompasses a vast range of professional areas, there are no fixed entry requirements. Professionals in the sector, however, must possess intimate knowledge of their subject matter and training platform, strong social skills, management experience, and patience. Training positions can sometimes involve travel, especially international travel, and the hours are often irregular.
Salaries vary considerably, as do employment opportunities throughout the UK. By and large, the majority of training positions are based in London, and salaries for training professionals tend to also be higher there. While some positions - especially those involving the software development aspect of the sector - typically provide causal working environments, other positions in corporate settings can be highly formal.
