Drivers are often required across a wide range of industries and sectors. Their purpose will usually be to deliver or collect parcels or other goods and they will be required to drive long distances on a regular basis. Two sectors that employ a large amount of drivers are the industrial and commercial industries.
Some examples of typical driver jobs that are very popular in the United Kingdom include but are not limited to taxi drivers, bus drivers, brinks drivers, chauffeurs, coach drivers, train drivers, couriers and trailer drivers. Recruitment agencies will usually look for potential members of staff who have experience in one of the aforementioned roles.
Drivers would not require formal education or qualifications but the above skills and experience would be recommended. In addition to this, it would be a plus if drivers were able to carry out repairs to their vehicles if needed and be comfortable with long hours.
Drivers would obviously need a full driving licence and also have a good sense of direction. Due to the various industries that a driver can work in, there is no average wage and some temporary positions may pay by the hour rather than on a salary basis.
