Norfolk is an English county that is situated in the south east of the country. Its only city is Norwich, and with a population of over 800,000 people, Norfolk is the 7th most populous county in the UK.
Norfolk is home to the UK's single largest agricultural area, and a number of driving jobs have been created as a result. Sugar beet, barley and wheat are grown in the county for the production of beet, and these raw materials require HGV drivers to deliver them to large-scale processing plants in other parts of the UK. Although Norfolk does not have its own motorway, access to the M11 is available via the A11.
Recruitment agencies in the region also work on behalf of many different industries where drivers are needed. Unilever, Bernard Matthews and the Construction Industry Training Board are all located in the county, and they all employ driving staff directly or via local haulage and logistics companies. Drivers with PCV licences will find vacancies with bus operators in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn and Thetford. Other employment opportunities for professional drivers in the region include those for plant drivers in major construction projects around Norwich and drivers working for local courier firms.
HGV drivers can earn anything between £30,000 and £45,000 working for a major employer or haulage company in the area, and bus drivers have the opportunity of earning between £18,000 and £30,000 per year.
