Lying in central Scotland, Stirlingshire falls between the two main Scottish cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The largest city in the region, Stirling, was once an important inland port city, with links to the Baltics and North Sea nations. Modern day Stirlingshire is predominantly a service based industry, like much of the rest of the country.
By far the most important economic sector in the region, with regard to employment, is that of Public Administration, Health, and Education. Combined with the NHS Trust, the local council employs over 4,000 staff in the city of Stirling alone and is responsible for over 30% of employment in the area. Another major employer in this sector is The University of Stirling which also has a large staff. Other major employers include HSBC and Prudential Insurance both of whom have offices in the region.
Thanks in large part to the efforts of The University of Stirling there is also now a major base for technological and scientific innovation in the region. Some of the businesses and companies based in the Stirling University Innovation Park, for example, whilst perhaps not being major employers, are certainly specialists in their field.
Searching for work anywhere in the country can sometimes feel like an up-hill struggle at the moment. Which is why the help that a specialist recruitment agency can offer is simply invaluable. Many of the major employers in Stirlingshire will advertise staff vacancies and job opportunities through specialist recruitment agencies, thereby maximising any chance of success a job search may have when using such agencies.
