Fintech, also known as Financial Technology, is an industry that uses software and computing to provide a range of Financial Services to consumers. Though still a fairly new field, recruitment in Fintech is growing and agencies are increasingly placing IT competent staff into jobs within Compliance, Currency, Payments and Banking.
Recruitment agencies that aid employers in hiring Fintech staff, will typically include a mixture of specialist IT and Finance agencies, as well as multi-sector employment firms. Although London has the largest Financial Services sector in the country, Fintech recruiters can be found across the UK, predominantly in major cities such as Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
The Fintech Industry is dominated by an abundance of start-up businesses and is providing a growing number of career opportunities for professionals including Software Engineers and Python Developers. There are currently around 61,000 Fintech staff in the UK and the field is worth £6.6 billion. Recruitment agency demand within Financial Technology is set to increase substantially over the next decade, with the London Fintech Industry expected to create more than 46,000 permanent, temporary and contract jobs.
The UK is home to a high number of Fintech employers, with the majority being based in London and the South East. WorldRemit, a money transfer service, has its global headquarters in the capital city, where they employ more than 150 people. Recruitment here will deal with vacancies ranging from Product Development to Sales. Peer-to-peer lending service, Zopa, is also located in London and has a UK workforce of 175 people. DueDil, FundApps and Funding Circle are other notable Fintech employers, while job seekers may also find chances for hire in major Banks and vendors of Financial Services.
