Home to over 78,000 residents, Nuneaton is the largest town in the county of Warwickshire. Due to its excellent transport links, Nuneaton is largely considered to be a commuter town for neighbouring cities of Coventry and Birmingham.
Many of Nuneaton's traditional industries, including textiles and manufacturing, have drastically declined in recent years, with electronics and distribution industries now dominating the town. MIRA Limited, formerly known as the Motor Industry Research Association, is amongst the largest employers of skilled trade workers in the town. The Ropewalk Shopping Centre provides much of the towns sales and customer services jobs, as does the Abbeygate Shopping Centre, which is located in the centre of the town.
In the past two decades, the town centre has been turned into a thriving retail and business district. Holland & Barretts headquarters are based in the town centre while the national distribution centres of RS Components and Dairy Crest are based in Bermuda Park, just south of Nuneaton. In addition to distribution centres, the town is also home to a range of international online marketing firms.
The number of full-time employment openings advertised by recruitment agencies in Nuneaton is less than that for the rest of the West Midlands. However, full-time staff in this town receive a weekly salary of £475, which is higher than the average for the region.
