The village of Stansted in Essex, England is also known as Stansted Mountfitchet, and lies next to the county of Hertfordshire, and thirty-five miles north of London. It is also just two miles from the world-famous airport of the same name, which is the fourth-busiest in the UK.
The population is fairly small at only 5,311 and 22% are educated to NVQ Level 4/5. The main employment industries in the area are real estate (17%), wholesale and retail trade (17%), manufacturing (14%), construction (7%), health/social work (7%), education (7%), and public administration/defence (4%). The majority of the workforce managers and senior officials (21%), with a further 15% in technical roles, 14% in administrative and secretarial roles, and 10% working in skilled trades.
The average weekly wage for full-time members of staff is £28,146, and unemployment levels are traditionally very low due to residents being able to easily commute to London, and the surrounding areas. Major employers in the area include the airport, Sworders Auctioneers, and a number of small companies based at the Riverside Business Park.
Thanks to the close proximity of Stansted Airport, which employs around 16,800 jobs on site, recruitment agencies believe that the area will continue to see an increase in jobs for the foreseeable future.
