There are some entry-level positions available within the sector, especially for graduates with a relevant degree. You will usually be working for a large corporate bank, but there are also many smaller specialist companies around the country.
The average pay within the corporate banking and finance sector is £37,000 and you can expect to be paid between £15,500 and £90,000 depending on your role and experience. The largest financial firms are based in London, so it is no surprise that the average wage is much higher there at £62,500. Around the country, you can expect to earn £40,000 in Scotland, £38,000 in the south west, £36,000 in the Midlands and £27,000 in the North West.
