Raising sponsorship in the arts is a challenging but rewarding role.
The job will involve exhausting all possible avenues as you attempt to raise money to fund projects in theatre, film, art, dance and music. Candidates seeking employment must be resilient and enthusiastic, while a passion for the arts is also important.
The position tends to be office-based but at times it may require candidates to meet with potential sponsors and contributors to discuss how and where their money might be spent. In many cases you will be responsible for developing relationships with key contacts to bring in sponsors for upcoming events.
A degree in marketing or in the arts is favourable but not always essential, depending on the role, but recruitment agencies and employers do want staff who are innovative, organised and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Relevant experience in the arts or in previous roles relating to sponsorship will be extremely helpful but a can-do attitude, combined with a determination to succeed is equally important.
The role can involve working to deadlines and in high pressured situations but the rewards for success are attractive. Salaries start at around £18,000 but for senior positions can reach £65,000 and more.
