More information
The purpose of a technician/wiring/assembly worker is to assemble, modify, and fix electrical equipment.
Common tasks include assembling wiring systems of electronic devices; pinpointing and fixing issues associated with electronic appliances; and conducting inspections of electrical units to ensure that they work efficiently.
Entry requirements
There are various different avenues into the industry. Although further education isn't essential, people with a degree in engineering will be a more favourable option than those with nothing. Qualifications can also be earned from governing bodies such as City and Guilds in order to increase the chance of employment and show professionalism. Some people also choose to partake in apprenticeship programmes. The more experience that a candidate has the more favourably they'll be looked upon by employers.
There are excellent employment opportunities for technician/wiring/assembly workers as trades are highly in demand in the UK, especially in inner city areas. Both full time and part time jobs can often be found through recruitment agencies.
Salaries
The salary for an technician/wiring/assembly worker can vary drastically. People who work for a larger company should expect to start on £18,000; this could reach heights of £32,000. People who work as freelancers could make more if they build up a good reputation.
